Certified Integrative Health Coach,

Trained through Duke Integrative Medicine

As a National Board-Certified Health & Wellness Coach, Jodessa partners with individuals to help them discover, unleash and catalyze their inherent self-healing capacity by facilitating alignment between their personal health vision, values and goals and translating that into actionable steps via a structured partnership over time leading to a transformative and sustainable change in her clients' overall health and wellbeing.

Jodessa is passionate about integrative health and lifestyle medicine as she has experienced and witnessed firsthand the power of self-healing and reversal of chronic diseases such as diabetes in her own family through major lifestyle changes. This insight led her to pursue training to become certified in integrative health coaching so that she can help guide others to become attuned to their inner wisdom, enhance their self-healing capacity and make transformative changes through positive lifestyle choices. Jodessa enjoys helping individuals discover their soul's purpose and seeing her clients realize their personal vision for a healthy, fruitful, and abundant life.

Jodessa has over 15 years experience as a mental health professional and as a health and wellness advocate. Notably, Jodessa has met with key legislators on Capitol Hill to discuss the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act to inform and influence public health policy with regards to improving health equity and decreasing health disparities especially amongst our most vulnerable populations. Jodessa has advanced graduate studies in Health Law & Policy from the University of California, San Diego and California Western School of Law, Master's degree in Human Behavior, Bachelor's degree in Psychology, and advanced professional training and certification in Integrative Health Coaching through Duke Integrative Medicine.

Jodessa is a member of several professional organizations, including the Institute of Coaching at Harvard Medical School, the Veterans' Health Committee through the American Public Health Association (APHA), the Academic Consortium for Integrative Medicine and Health (ACIMH), and the Academy of Integrative Health and Medicine (AIHM). She also serves as the inaugural Co-Chair for the Whole Health Steering Committee in San Diego for the VA Office of Patient-Centered Care.

Jodessa's joy comes from her faith in God, spending time in prayer, and spending time with her loving and supportive family. Her self-care ritual includes prayer, meditation, spending time in nature, listening to uplifting music, reading inspirational books, eating clean and keeping up with the latest research and news surrounding complementary integrative health approaches. Jodessa loves singing and has been a part of several major musical productions and has led an active role as vocalist for her church choir, which she co-directed with her family. Jodessa comes from a military family and enjoys meeting new people, traveling the world and exploring different cultures. Jodessa lives from a heart-centered, purpose and value-driven life, which she believes is the key to mobilizing individuals’ gifts and talents collectively in service to others, creating a meaningful, positive impact on community and society as a whole.

“When I first heard of health coaching, I was kind of skeptical as to whether or not it would work. I thought to myself, “I don't need help, I’m good and I can do it myself.” I've been going through some challenges lately and I felt like I needed help. I wanted someone to talk to. Not my judgmental family or judgmental friends. Someone who would listen and not judge me for my actions. That's when I decided to give health coaching a chance. I had things that I needed help with. We all do but can we honestly admit them? I had a problem and I'm so glad that I met Jodessa. She made it easy. I didn't feel like I was in trouble. She was so easy to talk to. She listened and understood what I was going through. Through self discovery she made me understand my own faults and supported every decision I've made to help me overcome them. I wanted to stop smoking. I've been smoking since 2004. I've tried to stop in the past, but have been unsuccessful. Jodessa assisted me with a game plan. The game plan was my idea and all she did was support my actions. She didn't tell me that smoking was bad; I did. She didn't tell me that I needed to cut down on the amount of cigarettes to smoke; I did. Jodessa was there and supported my action plan. I made sure to keep track of my intake and held myself responsible. It wasn't easy, but I made sure to hold myself accountable for every cigarette I've smoked. What was more important? Living a long and healthy life or an early death? I went from smoking a pack a day to half a pack to none. This wasn't an easy task, but if I didn't have someone like Jodessa cheering me on and telling me that I'm doing a good job I would have still been smoking cigarettes. How bad did I want to stop? Real bad! This program is amazing. I wish I could have found out about this sooner. Thanks Jodessa for all you do. You're the best. #lifechanger.”
